It is a well-known fact that the United States is in the middle of a recession. However, recent reports have shown that holiday sales have gone up. Should people be spending on uneeded items in the midst of a recession?
I think this spending is a good thing. It shows that the citizens of the UNited States are able to fight through hard times. This extra holiday buying also enabled businesses to prosper in these hard times.
I agree with Jacob. The holiday season is loosening people's tight grip on their money which will as a result allow businesses to bounce back and become prosperous again.
